Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

EPD is an abbreviation for Environmental Product Declaration and describes a product's environmental performance from a life cycle perspective. The term "EPD" is commonly used in Swedish as well, or alternatively translated to "miljödeklaration" (Type III) or "miljövarudeklaration."

An EPD provides product-specific environmental information that is third-party certified, making it a crucial data source for conducting a life cycle analysis (LCA) for an entire building.

It's important to consider the entire life cycle when assessing the sustainability of a product. It describes the environmental impact of products throughout their life cycle - from manufacturing, through the use phase, to the end-of-life phase. Examples of parameters that positively contribute to a product's environmental performance from a life cycle perspective include high quality (long service life), energy efficiency, and process/material selection.

To provide you, as a customer, with a clear overview and guidance on how to build or design sustainably from a life cycle perspective, FM Mattsson has chosen to develop EPDs for selected product groups. The life cycle analysis was conducted by RISE in collaboration with us and is third-party certified by Ramboll.

All EPDs are also published on environdec.com.
